Hadith Course Description

Students will learn about the difference between Hadith Qudsi, Hadith Nabawi, and the distinction between Sahih (authentic), Hasan (good), and Daif (weak) Hadith.
Historical Context: Students will explore the historical context in which the Hadith were collected and compiled. This includes an overview of the major Hadith collections, such as Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, Jami` at-Tirmidhi, and others. The role of notable scholars like Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim will be highlighted.
Methodology of Hadith Science: The course covers the science of Hadith criticism (Ilm al-Mustalah al-Hadith), including the methods used to authenticate Hadith. Students will learn about the criteria for evaluating the chain of narrators (Isnad) and the text (Matn) of Hadith. This section also delves into the biographies of Hadith narrators (Ilm al-Rijal) and the importance of reliability and trustworthiness.
